FAQs

Got questions?

Of course you do. We get them all the time. Gluten-free baking can be confusing, ingredient labels can get weird, and shipping frozen bagels across the country isn’t exactly normal. This page covers some things you might want to know (and a few things you didn’t think to ask). We’ll be adding to this over time.

Are your bagels certified gluten-free?

Not yet. We're working getting this certification, but rest assured, all of our products are gluten-free.

Are your bagels Paleo?

Absolutely. Every bagel we make is Paleo-friendly, grain-free, dairy-free, soy-free, and made with organic, non-GMO ingredients.

How do you ship the bagels?

We boil, bake, flash-freeze, and ship nationwide within the United States. Your bagels arrive frozen and ready for your freezer.

How should I store my bagels when they arrive?

Keep them frozen until you're ready to eat. Slice before freezing if possible. They'll stay fresh for up to 3 months in your freezer.

How do I prepare them after freezing?

Let thaw at room temperature for 10-15 minutes, then toast to your preferred level of golden perfection.

Do you offer any vegan options?

No. All of our bagels contain eggs, so they are not vegan-friendly.

What if my bagels arrive thawed?

If your bagels arrive cold but thawed, simply refreeze and store as usual. If there's ever an issue, contact us directly.

Why do you boil your bagels?

Boiling gives bagels their classic chewy texture and glossy crust. Most gluten-free bagels skip this step. We don't.

Can I order a subscription?

Not yet, but we're working on it. Stay tuned for subscription options soon.

Do these bagels taste like “normal” bagels?

Better. Same chewy texture, same satisfying crust, without the gut drama afterward.

Will my non-gluten-free friends like them?

Yes. And they'll probably steal them. We suggest hiding at least one pack in the back of your freezer for emergencies.

Why are so many gluten-free bagels terrible?

Because most companies try to mimic wheat bagels without understanding how gluten-free baking works. We started with the goal of making great food first, not passable substitutes.

Are these bagels just for breakfast?

Absolutely not. They make excellent midnight snacks, emergency sandwiches, or whatever you need them to be.

What makes Sweet Chaos Bakery different?

We boil our bagels (most gluten-free brands dont). We use organic, non-GMO ingredients. We started making these bagels for our own family before we ever sold a single one.
